The thyroid is an endocrine gl& located in your neck, beneath the ‘Adam’s apple’. The hormones produced by the thyroid are vital to regulating overall energy levels & metabolism. When your thyroid hormone levels are off-balance, a wide range of destabilising symptoms can manifest.
Our thyroid function tests check your blood levels of thyroid (thyroxine & triiodothyronine) & thyroid-stimulating hormones (TSH). Thyroid disorders are much more common in women than in men, with conditions such as hypothyroid or hyperthyroid (underactive or overactive) thyroid being common.
Other forms of thyroid dysfunction include:
- Graves’ Disease
- Goitre
- Nodules
- Thyroid cancer
- Hashimoto’s Disease (an autoimmune disease of the thyroid which often leads to hypothyroidism)
Our clinic offers thyroid function tests with same-day results for the main profile, & a 3-day turnaround for the thyroid antibodies screen. To book an appointment, get in touch today.
