You can get an STI / STD test any time you are worried and seeking the peace of mind or experiencing symptoms. It is advisable that everyone who is sexually active is screened routinely.

With sexual health testing, there is no one size fits all, which is why we have created a package that covers most people for a broad range of STD testing and gives our clinicians the ability to be very specific about testing depending on your needs.

The comprehensive full sexual health screen package covers all of the main sexually transmitted diseases. The package includes consultation with one of our sexual health professionals, examination and testing. In addition, we offer a telephone consultation with a doctor or a nurse when the results are back and for any prescriptions, you might require.

Our STD package includes HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Your doctor or nurse will recommend any additional swabs or tests specific to your circumstances or symptoms such as a bacterial swab or herpes swab.

When should I get tested?

In general, good times to get an STI test include the following:

Having a new sexual partner
You had sex with someone who has an STI
You had sex without a condom or the condom broke
You notice changes in your body
You notice STI-related symptoms
It’s been more than 3 – 6 months since your last test when either you or your partner/s have other sexual partners.

What does the test include?

Our Sexual Health Screen includes:
Blood Test for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C
Urine test for Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea

Additional swabs and tests can be added on to suit your specific needs.

What to Expect

Step 1

Preparing for test

Keeping yourself sufficiently hydrated makes blood testing easier. For accuracy of the urine test results, you should avoid urinating for two hours prior to the appointment.
Step 2

During the test

You will have a consultation with an experienced doctor, who will discuss your options for testing. Your consultation may involve personal questions about your medical and sexual history, your typical methods of contraception, and other questions about your sex life, sexual practices, and sexual partners.

All information given during your visit will be treated confidentially. Personal details and test results will not be shared with anyone outside of the sexual health service without your permission.

Some sexual health tests require a blood test while others are tested from swabs from the vagina or urethra and/or a urine sample.
Step 3

Your privacy has absolute importance. You can choose how you would like to receive the results. You can be called, emailed or you can decide to contact us at the time of your convenience.

Does my partner need to be tested?

If you do have a sexually transmitted infection, it is important that your partner is tested and treated. We recommend that you abstain from sex or in some cases, only practice safe sex until you know your results and window periods have passed.

What tests should I have?

There is no one profile of tests that are recommended for everyone but we offer various packages that we feel cover the majority of cases. It can be helpful to talk to a doctor about the kinds of sexual health tests that are appropriate for you with regard to your lifestyle and potential risk factors.

When should I be tested?

If you have had unprotected sex or are worried by any symptoms, we recommend coming in for a test as soon as possible. Depending on the appropriate window periods, certain tests can be repeated later if necessary. Give us a call to speak to a member of our team who can talk you through the process and advise you on when to
