AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) Testing
The Harley Street Health Centre can conducted AMH testing with a 3-day turnaround for results.
What is anti-mullerian hormone?
Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) is a protein hormone produced in the ovaries. Levels of this hormone stay constant throughout your menstrual cycle, and so can be tested at any time of the month. AMH levels are naturally lower in women over 40, and higher in women who have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).
What are the benefits of AMH testing?
A test for AMH is used to determine your fertility levels, due to a correlation between the number of growing follicles in your ovaries which release the hormone, and your remaining egg supply.
Once your AMH levels have been determined, a strategy for IVF treatment can be devised. They speed up fertility treatment by indicating how your ovaries will respond to IVF. If your AMH test reveals low levels, your doctor may recommend non-drug fertility treatment methods.
