Contraceptive implants can be removed at any point within their 3-year lifespan and should not be left after that time to reduce the risk of any complications and reduced effectiveness of the contraceptive method. At this point, the implant must be removed and if you do not want to get pregnant, alternative contraception should be agreed upon with your nurse. This could be a new contraceptive implant, hormonal or copper coil, contraceptive injection or contraceptive pills.
About our facility and team
We are an established clinic run by a female-led team, both in management and clinically. Our priority is ensuring that you receive safe and timely care and that you understand all of your options and the impact your contraceptive choice may have on your health so that you can make an informed decision.
Our senior specialist nurses have 20 years of experience in family planning and are here to answer all of your questions before and after your procedure. Our facility is COVID-safe and includes a dedicated procedure suite for your comfort and safety.
What should I expect?
You will meet with a senior specialist nurse for a consultation and to go over the details of the procedure. She will then conduct the procedure with your consent, which involves, with a local anaesthetic, making a tiny incision in order to remove the implant. You will not require any stitches.
